When does the PTA meet?
We meet each month, September through May, in the IMC Annex, which is a small classroom adjoining the library. We follow an agenda, usually hear from a speaker from school and end on time.
What does the PTA do?
Your PTA supports school programs and activities for all students. We have a volunteer coordinator who also manages volunteer needs for activities and classrooms. We have both short term and longer term volunteer options. Every parent's contribution is valued here!
In the fall, we help with magazine sales accounting for the Franklin fundraiser. This is a district wide middle school fundraiser which supports the Student Activity Fund at Franklin. Opportunities are available year long to help in classrooms and the IMC and to support the teaching staff. PTA members also volunteer at Fine Arts and Activities concerts and at concessions for sporting events.
Why should I join the PTA?
This is a great way to stay involved with your student and Franklin. Your involvement is important to your student. Kids don't want parents in the classroom daily, but when they see you here, they know that school is important to you (and they are too).
PTA offers the opportunity to be informed and influential. Our monthly speakers provide a window into what is happening at school, in areas you might not otherwise hear about from your student. As a member you vote on our budget and help shape the priorities of the group.

How can I Volunteer / Help?
Please click here for a volunteer sign up sheet. You can send it back to school and hand it in to the Main Office and when we have opportunities to fit your requests, we will contact you.
In addition, we use Sign Up Genius to send out digital requests when we need them. Even if you are not a member of the PTA, all parent help makes a difference and is appreciated. Please consider helping when called upon. It really helps.
Finally, financial contributions are always welcome. PTA has a wonderful tradition of purchasing items, from its Friends of Franklin account, which may fall outside of what the building is able to fund itself. PTA has provided monies for our auditorium sound system, fitness room (just to name a few) and most recently, the televisions which are located in our hallways that stream our daily announcements.
