Welcome to Franklin Middle School. Franklin has been a cornerstone in the Cedar Rapids Community School District and fixture of the local neighborhood. From the architecture to the artwork, students and staff past and present, we are proud to continue the historical excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities.
Franklin has been a 6-8 middle school for the past twenty-plus years. Since its opening in 1923 Franklin served as a high school and junior high. While the age of students and class offerings have changed, one item that has not is the commitment our staff makes to provide impactful teaching and to help students socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. As a staff, we are committed to:
Emphazing positive relationships and a positive environment
Building collaboration and teamwork skills
Teaching and modeling PARRT curriculum (Personal Best, Active Listening, Respect, Responsibility, and Trustworthiness)
Focusing on learning and growth
We invite students and parents to be involved. We welcome, and look forward, to the opportunity to collaborate. A community of connected students, parents, and staff makes for a strong school environment.
It’s a great day to be a Franklin Thunderbolt!
